What's KRILL OIL ?
Krill is shrimp-like crustaceans that are around 1 to 6 cm in size. They exist in the ocean, where they consume mainly on phytoplankton. They're close to the base of the food chain and are devoured by gaint whales, seals, penguins, squid and fish. Krill oil, the oil that is produced abundantly in krill, is extracted and advertised as a health supplement. It is distributed in many health food companies and on-line in capsule form.
Krill oil contains omega-3 fatty acids, which is the main reason it's becoming popular as a nutritional supplement.
Another reason why krill oil is becoming well known is because it contains an antioxidant noted as astaxanthin. Unlike numerous other antioxidants, astaxanthin get across the blood-brain barrier, where it could in theory protect the eye, brain and central nervous system from free radical ill effects. The anti-oxidant effectiveness of krill oil is such that when likened to fish oil in terms of ORAC (Oxygen radical absorptance capacity) values it was determined to be fourty eight times more effective than fish oil.
The astaxanthin detected in krill oil provides excellent protection against ultravoilet light and UV-induced skin impairment. It was for this rground that I started consuming krill oil to begin with-I later discovered its other virtues subsequently.
A number of studies have shown that krill oil is hugely effective in lowering LDL-cholesterol, increasing HDL-cholesterol, and bringing down blood sugar. It has been shown to be efficient in treating the pain and inflammation from rheumatoid arthritis and aches and pains in general. One large study showed that krill oil has tremendous benefits in terms of symptom reduction in PMS and dysmenorrhea. And it has been shown to be effective in the treatment of adult ADHD. In all these studies krill oil was tested against fish oil and not merely a placebo.
Due to the rapid absorption of krill oil and the high anti-oxidant content there is virtually never the fishy burping and aftertaste sometimes experienced with fish oil. And there are no other side effects to speak of. The jury is out right now on if and to what degree there is a problem for those people allergic to shrimp. The Antioxidant Potency of Krill Oil is 48 Times Higher than Fish Oil.
Antioxidants are your body's principal way to weaken free radicals -- those harmful metabolic by-products that harm cells and tissues throughout your body.
Scientific report evidence has repeatedly attested that antioxidants are a cornerstone in the promotion of heart health, boosting your immune system, and memory support. They also appear to play a role in helping to decelerate your signs of aging.
So when you deliberate that the anti-oxidant potency of krill oil is 48 times more potent than fish oil, well, choosing between the two is easy.
If you're still not certain of the antioxidant powers to krill oil, independent ORAC evaluations have also established that genuine Neptune krill oil contains:
· Over 300 times the antioxidant strength of vitamin A and vitamin E
· Over 47 times the antioxidant effectiveness of lutein
Pretty impressive, wouldn't you say?
